In 1990 Congress enacted the Americans with Disabilities Act, which requires public accommodations and commercial facilities to comply to specific guidelines. In the case of decorative lighting fixtures the projection from the wall, in corridors, can measure no more than 4” from the wall if mounted between 27" and 80". When the ADA compliant notation is indicated, that is stating that the fixture meets these specifications.
ADA Fluorescent
Indicates that this fixture is ADA compliant (the extension from the wall is 4” or less) and the light source is a compact fluorescent ballast requiring the use of a specific fluorescent lamp.
ADA Incandescent
Indicates that this fixture is ADA compliant and the light source is either a medium base or candelabra base socket. |
